I wanted "comfort" food and thought why not make what I love RAW!!! (I actually growled and said RAWWWWRRRR when I typed that! *smile*) So I made some magnificent mac and cheese. I'm posting this cheese sauce separately, because, I realize many are not raw, some just like the cheese recipe's for dips, sauces and to put over normal pasta, and others are lactose intolerant...we all have our individual reason's for not using dairy, some may even still eat dairy but like to switch up...whatever life path you have, I respect it...just enjoy the cheese! LOL
Raw Mac ~N~ Cheese Sauce |
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup raw cashews (presoaked)
- 1/2 red pepper
- 1 tsp celtic sea salt
- juice from 1/2 lemon
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp onion flakes
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp parsley
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp braggs liquid aminos (optional)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4-1/2 cup water (as needed)
Put everything in your Vitamix blender and blend! Now you have a Raw Mac ~N~ Cheese sauce that tastes "real".
TIP:
Add the water sparingly, you can make this sauce as thin or thick as you like. Just remember, when refrigerated, it will thicken up.
